Client - Flowbot Bars
Flowbot Bars delivers world leading self-service bar technology in a sleek, compact and highly mobile format. Flowbot Bars' unique product provides a next generation bar experience, diverting customers away from pinch points and adding capacity to venues and events.
This project was managed by Particle and taken from concept through to design for manufacture. All aspects of the machines architecture went under multiple rounds of development over a multi-year process. Technical skill went into sheet metal design, weldments and multi-part CAD assemblies, as well as all fluid control and embedded systems.
Client - Tether
A bike safety device that projects a safe zone around your bike, responds to road users around you, identifying safe and unsafe roads in your city.
Particle Studio focused on the electronic hardware, firmware and integration within the casing and mobile application, starting from basic prototypes to production level.

Client - SMART RESPIRATORY
Smart Respiratory is a company that specialises in asthma control products. A digital way of tracking your asthma health.
We designed and developed the Smart Rescue, a small medical device that attaches to the top of your inhaler. It plots your inhaler usage on the app via NFC connection. This way users can stay on top of their asthma health and take action before any attacks occur.

Spring is a tech trade-in company that provides a self service solution to the issue of wanting to recycle your old tech. We developed the company’s self service pod -
The “Pod” is a point of sale unit where you can dispense old tech for cash.
This project was a multi-year development, and Particle was responsible for the complete design and development of the machine. Complex linear motion assemblies, sheet metal fabrication and vacuum form mold design.
Client - FeelThree
FeelThree produces an affordable, customisable virtual reality simulator that puts players right in the game. The FeelThree VR Simulator allows an extensive range of rotation and movement by using multiple motors rather than expensive but limited linear actuators.

Client - Candy Mechanics
Candy Mechanics are a London based startup making customisable confections, including a chocolate likeness of your head on a stick. Particle Studio designed and built their first Candy Kart, a portable sales kiosk where customers can have their faces 3D scanned and carved out of chocolate using a custom built CNC milling machine.
Following the popularity of the Candy Kart, Particle Studio worked with web developers Common Works to create an online service for Candy Mechanics where customers can design custom chocolate bars to be milled and sent to them by post. These are available on their website: candymechanics.com
Client - Smart Respiratory Products
Smart Peak Flow was invented to manage asthma proactively. To educate people about their condition, to make them aware of what they can do to get better and to help share their information with their doctor.
In the past few decades, asthma care has mostly stayed the same, as most people experience minor symptoms. However, the number of mild to severe cases is growing, due to the changes in air pollution and lack of awareness in general. Smart Peak Flow is an intelligent medical device designed to combat this.
Particle has worked with Smart respiratory products to create the Smart Peakflow from the ground up. Developing the concept from our initial sketches, through to rapid prototyping, testing and designing for manufacture. The Smart Peakflow is now an established medical device with it’s success being featured on the BBC and Harvard Medical School.
Client - VIOLET TECHNOLOGIES
Violet technologies is a beauty-tech company, that is focusing on tackling the problem of dirty make-up. By using UV sterilisation the lamp can kill up to 99% of harmful bacteria that cause infection to the skin which results in acne and irritation. We worked with the client to develop the company’s first product - a UV bacteria killing make-up lamp.
This project went through the complete design process from ideation, conception and to a working prototype. The idea being that the make-up is placed internally and the bacteria is eliminated by the inner UV lights. There is then a soft glow warm light on the outer so the product can be used to apply make-up as well as create a natural ambient setting for any room.
The working prototype was built with custom PCBs designed and assembled in house and the unit was tested at MIT. The UV LEDs worked with a 99.8% disinfection rate during a 10 minute cycle.
Client - OCTI
Octi explores how shapes, patterns and textures from the natural world can become miniature sculptures worn on the body.
By casting directly from the skins of fruits/ vegetables or by sculpting organic shapes in wax with line drawings, fragments of nature are captured in precious metals.
These patterns and textures often repeat themselves on micro / macro scales, in different locations within the world. For example the texture of a gherkin mimics a field of ant hills, and the skin of an avocado mimics lava, on micro scales.
Particle collaborated on a project to create custom carabiner for a new line of jewellery. Creating an enclosure that can be used throughout the complete line of Jewellery. Working with the client we sketched and designed a new style of clip based on their brand image. The finished product is a display of high level surface modelling and functional mechanism design.
In-House Project
Launched by Particle Studio in 2015, The Nipper is the world's smallest phone charger. At the size of a sugar cube, it can be carried around at all times. The Nipper doesn’t require separate charging as it uses two AA batteries which attach to its magnetic contacts. This small, handy device gives phones an extra boost of power.
It won the EverydayFix hackathon hosted at Makerversity, Somerset House in 2015, and then went on Kickstarter, where it beat its target by 300%. Now on sale worldwide, The Nipper is available through the website nippercharger.com
Client - ORDRE
ORDRE develops innovative tools for luxury fashion wholesale networks. Their ORB system provides high-resolution 360° image capture of fashion models and accessories in a matter of seconds, allowing seasonal collections to be clearly and efficiently represented through online showrooms. Particle has assisted ORDRE with the design and prototyping of mechanical and lighting elements for the full size and accessory ORB systems.
Mechanical design for the full size ORB included development of connectors for its carbon fibre framework and production of a motorised turntable to rotate the ORB around the model.
For the accessory ORB, Particle designed and prototyped illuminated panels for use as the photographic backdrop. The design allowed for full edge to edge surface illumination, modular assembly to allow for transport, and functionality as doors to allow easy placement of accessories within the ORB.
Client - CAULIBOX
Caulibox are disrupting the urban food industry with technology and automation, by helping customers and restaurants shift to reusable packaging by making the processes of sourcing, returning, washing and collecting simple and convenient. aiming to save 15,000,000 single-use takeaway containers every year.
Particle was responsible for the creation of the CauliKiosk. This is the deposit point where customers will return the Cauliboxs after use, so that the containers can be taken away, washed, and sent back to vendors for use - Creating a complete circular economy.
